ABOUT ME

Hannah Houston is a recent broadcast journalism graduate from The University of Southern Mississippi.  As a student, she produced live television shows for Conference USA and ESPN, and integrated graphics into the Southern Miss production space.  She recorded and edited audio news for Southern Miss Today, USM's daily radio show, on staff as a host, podcaster, and audio engineer.  She also wrote general news, entertainment and features for the Student Printz

Houston lives a vegan lifestyle alongside her dog, Shaolin, and they often travel together searching for experience to satisfy a poetic itch.

Recently, Houston has been working in AmeriCorps service programs as a way to reach into the outdoor world.  Eventually, she would like to merge her media experience with a love for the outdoors.  Through AmeriCorps, she has worked with the trails, maintenance and botany divisions in multiple national parks and monuments like Crater Lake and Mt. Rainier.  In an effort to continue as a media professional, she has been documenting her journey on social media reels.

"The fast paced workplace of a live production environment fits my natural rhythm.  I like to go to work and feel like I've done something worthwhile, whether its building trails or getting the news on air.  I strive to be as intersectional and accessible as possible in my life and career.  I'm currently based in Hattiesburg, MS and want to show our city's relevance in the bigger picture. I love to cover news, events, and people that have a vision for kindness."
