Nothing starts the holiday season in Hattiesburg like a trip to the Lewis Lights, a walking lights tour through the front yard of the Lewis family. Evelyn and Linda Lewis started this family tradition thirty years ago and has grown every year since then.
The Lewis family puts up lights and decorations around their yard for guests to walk through and admire. Hand-painted storyboards tell the tales of the Christmas Story and The Night Before Christmas. Famous cartoon characters are also lit up along the pathway with presents and Christmas trees.
The Lewis family opens for visitors every night starting on Thanksgiving and continues until New Years Eve. Families from Purvis and the surrounding areas have made a tradition out of coming to the Lewis's every year.
Preparation for the show's season takes months to prepare. The Lewis family unwinds, rebuilds, and assembles all of their lights and electrical work by hand. They even add new additions to the show when they can.
Next holiday season, be sure to visit the Lewis Lights. Guests can make donations for the event and can also purchase handmade crafts as gifts.
